Hikes Near Santee
Santee offers so many amazing hikes, we might as well make a list! So here are our favourite hikes in Santee:
Cowles Mountain Trail
If you're interested, visit Big Rock, Mesa, Barker Way, the service road, and more. Preparation is essential for hikes that range from 24 miles to 48 miles, depending on your starting point.
Fortuna Mountain Trail
In addition to North Fortuna Mountain Trail, you can access it via Oak Canyon, North Fortuna Trails, or Grasslands. The trail is 543 miles long, but you can access it from Oak Canyon, Fortuna Saddle, or North Fortuna Trails if you want to use something a little shorter.
You might be interested in the 1049-mile loop trail of the North and South Fortuna and Kwaay Paay Peak Trail.
Kwaay Paay
Kwaay Paay is a great, mostly steep 24-mile hike that gets your heart pumping. It offers some of the best views of San Diego. During a sunset hike, make sure you get down before it gets dark, as the path down is rocky and we encourage conditions with better visibility.
Wrapping Up
Regardless of whether you drive to San Diego Santee Lakes or take the Green Line Trolley, whether you come for a day or stay for the week, and whether you choose to fish and hike or sip and paint, there is truly an experience built for everyone here.
